V is for very large array (VLA)

The VLA (very large array) is the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, one of the world's largest Radio-Telescope array.  Each 230 ton antenna is 82 feet in diameter.  The 27 radio antennas are arranged in a Y shaped configuration on the plains of San Agustin about 20 miles west of Magdalena, New Mexico.  Well worth a visit.  Post # 22 on ABC Wednesday.

  1. That is humongus Terry. The VLA is a perfect choice for the letter V.

  3. Your VLA is very interesting...I wonder how much land this array takes...I like your shot with the mountains in the background...and that moody sky adds interest also...

  4. That must be a truly impressive sight! I think I must save up for a massive trip around the world, so I can go and see it for myself.
